While many celebrities took to social media to express their sorrow over Friday night's tragedy in Paris, Ruby Rose and Rob Lowe have faced a blacklash from Twitter users for making political statements considered by some to be distasteful.
A total of 129 people were killed and 352 wounded, of whom 99 were said to be in critical condition, following the terrorist attacks across the French capital.
Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the attacks.
As the tragedy unfolded, Orange is the New Black star Rose urged fans to "pray for the entire world" following bombings in Lebanon and Syria amid the Paris terror attacks.
"Pray for the entire world. Let's be honest. Pray for humanity. What is happening in the world," she tweeted on Saturday.
"Today has been devastating. #Lebanon #Paris #Syria and everywhere under attack right now. This is not a blanket post this is a post for today's horrific news which spans many countries."
Her post, republished on the Herald Sun website but later deleted by her on Twitter, sparked anger among followers for including Syria and Lebanon, and not singling out the Paris attack specifically.
"The whole world hasn't just endured a terrorist attack," said one user, while others urged her to delete the post.
"Wow! Guys my pray for the world post is not taking away from Paris. It's about the other incidents today #pairs #syria #lebanon," she said.
"There were bombings in Lebanon and Paris today. I am saying the world is in trouble. Terrorism is at large," she added.
"Love breeds love. Hate breeds hate ... My heart and my love goes to Paris and everywhere in state of emergency right now. Heartbreaking day."
Lowe also caused a Twitter stir after he criticised French President Francois Hollande's political response to the situation.
"Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande," he said before slamming the president's speech about the tragedy, calling it either "the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given".
