Madonna may have killed Taylor Swift with praise.

The undisputed queen of pop recently singled Swift's "catchy" tunes out for approval.

That's sent Swift gushing on social media.

"Thanks now I'm dead," she said under Madonna's quotes on her Tumblr.

"#HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DEAL WITH THIS, #BE COOL TAYLOR STOP BEING EMBARRASSING".

Madonna made the comments whilst talking about pop's upcoming female artists, saying "it's good to have (pop) princesses" like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

"I like Taylor Swift. I think she writes some really catchy pop songs," the 56-year-old singer told the Nine Network.

"(I) Can't get them out of my head."
