A number of celebrities have shared their support for NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality against African-Americans, after US President Donald Trump criticised the players and called them "sons of b*****s".
American Football player Colin Kaepernick originally kneeled during the USnational anthem before a preseason game last August in protest of the killing of African-Americans by US police officers.
The protest has been gaining steam recently after Trump slammed the players at a rally, saying: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b***h off the field right now. Out! He's fired. He's fired!'"
Trump also shared a number of tweets blasting the NFL players.
The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this!
Many more NFL athletes have since taken a knee in solidarity, while a number of celebrities have voiced their support, including Gillian Anderson, Zendaya and Olivia Wilde.
Anderson shared a photo of herself and her X-Files costar David Duchovny taking a knee while in character as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully.
