Needless to say, the rumours were all false - Parker was not hinting at Sex and the City 3.
The caption did allude to a big announcement though.
"Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag," she captioned the shot.
"As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under strict gag order until then. Xx, Sj"
The actress was also later spotted on the roof of Bloomingdales wearing some very Carrie Bradshaw-esque pink heels.
But it turns out it was all just to advertise the fact that Parker's shoe-line will now be sold at the New York store.
The photos were all in the name of promotion - they just weren't promoting what everyone hoped they were.
Parker took to her shoe collection's Instagram account to clear up the misunderstanding.
"Pinch me, I'm dreaming. After months and months of sworn secrecy, I can finally shout the news from the rooftop. Or even better, from the iconic @bloomingdales awning. Welcome to New York, @sjpcollection. You're going to love it here. Finally, a permanent home in NYC," she wrote, alongside the picture of her on Bloomingdale's roof.
"Ps. Forgive me for any previous misunderstandings. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle. Yours forever, Sj x," she continued, promptly shattering all dreams of a third movie.
Movie studio, Warner Bros. also confirmed the disappointing news.
"The post is not in relation to the Sex and the City property," the studio told E! News.
So put your Manolos away, Carrie isn't coming out of hibernation just yet.
