The production of the hit TV show Catfish has been halted while Nev Schulman is investigated over sexual misconduct claims that he "repeatedly asked a lesbian guest to have sex with him in 2015".

MTV revealed that the network is conducting a "thorough investigation" into the accusations, The Daily Mail reports.

"We take these allegations very seriously," an MTV spokesperson told The Daily Beast. A DailyMail.com request for comment to MTV was not immediately returned.

Catfish: The TV Show was halted after Ayissha Morgan made the accusations against Schulman in two videos published to YouTube. She posted the first video on Saturday and the second video on Monday.

In the first video, Morgan, who appeared on season four's 17th episode in 2015, used the name 'Jack' when referring to "the main guy on the show," which some have speculated refers to Schulman.

"I hope that I'm the only person that this experience has happened to," Morgan said in the video, adding that she came forward because she wants to spread awareness and not because she wants any money.

Morgan claimed that 'Jack' repeatedly asked her if he could take her on a date, despite the 20-year-old telling him that she identifies as a lesbian.

"He just kept asking me, 'Are you a lesbian or are you bisexual?' I was like, 'I'm a lesbian for the 50th f**king time,'" she recalled.

She alleged that Jack even said to her: "I don't think you're a lesbian. You need to let me take you out and you're really pretty."

Morgan said she thought it was all a joke and that Jack was trying to make her feel comfortable.

She said the show's other main character, whom Morgan calls 'John' in the video, told Jack to back off.

"It got to the point to where John was like, 'Dude, you need to chill,'" she recalled.

Sad truth behind cruel catfishing hoax

Morgan claimed that when they were sitting on the couch together during the episode, she tried to sit as far away from Jack as she could because he kept 'scooting closer' to her.

Jack also allegedly asked her if they were staying at the same hotel and invited her to the Jacuzzi.

"I just saw him as this thirsty guy. I still thought he was a cool guy at this point," Morgan said.

But her view point changed when Jack allegedly crossed the line while they were alone at an airport preparing to head to Houston.

Morgan said Jack told her that he didn't believe she was a lesbian and when she asked him why, he replied: 'I don't think you met the right guy yet, do you think I'm attractive?'

She then claims that he told her that she should try having sex with a guy, adding that he had a large penis.

Morgan said he kept pushing her to have sex with him in order to help her 'reevaluate' whether or not she was a lesbian.

In part two of the videos, she alleged that he asked her to cuddle, to which she replied that he needed to go.

That same night, Morgan said she text one of the production assistants, whom she names as 'Carol' in the video, to hangout.

Morgan said she had become close to 'Carol' during the filming of the episode. But when she asked Carol to hang out, Morgan said Carol told her she was busy.

About 10 minutes later, Morgan claims Carol showed up to her hotel room with beer. She said she got drunk and Carol invited her to her room.

"She's like I have two beds. But when we get to her room she only has one bed," Morgan said in the video.

"The last thing I remember... I was just drunk off my a**," she said.

Morgan said she slipped in and out of consciousness and during one of the episodes, she woke up and found Carol on top of her.

In the video, Morgan said she didn't want to go into detail about what happened between her and Carol that night.

Morgan teared up as she recalled how embarrassed she was the next day when members of the production team were joking about the incident between her and Carol.

She then said that Jack also invited her to his room again while she was waiting on a new key card to her own room. She said Jack continued to ask her if she thought he was attractive.

"I was sitting on the bed and he [Jack] was sitting at his desk across the room," Morgan said.

She claimed that he then asked her what happened between her and Carol, to which Morgan replied: "I don't know."

"He was like, 'Well how about you do what you did to Carol on me?'" Morgan said. "He laid on the bed and grabbed my arm."

Morgan said she pulled her arm away, walked out and sat in front of her door until someone brought her her room key.

"I had the worst time. It was just adding and adding to my depression," Morgan said.

Schulman has denied the claims in a statement released to Page Six on Thursday.

"The behavior described in this video did not happen and I'm fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth," the statement read.

"I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions, but these claims are false," Schulman added.

Schulman met his now-wife Laura Perlongo in 2015 and the couple welcomed their daughter Cleo James in 2016. They married in 2017.

Perlongo is a freelance copywriter and creative director who graduated from Boston University in 2007

The TV star serves as the host and executive producer for Catfish: The TV Show.

The show first aired in 2012 and is currently in its seventh season, which is set to air on June 18, according to MTV's website. It's unclear if the show will air its seventh season next month.

Catfish: The TV Show brings couples together who've interacted only through the internet.
