Cate Blanchett's new drama, Carol, looks set to be a big winner at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards in January after scooping seven nominations.
The movie has earned nods for Film of the Year, Actress of the Year for Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, Director of the Year for Todd Haynes, Screenwriter of the Year for Phyllis Nagy and two technical achievement nominations for cinematography and music.
Other contenders for Film of the Year include Spotlight, The Revenant, Room, The Martian, Mad Max: Fury Road, 45 Years, animated adventure Inside Out and documentaries Amy and The Look of Silence.
Blanchett and Mara will go up against Brie Larson (Room), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) and Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) for best actress.
Ronan and Rampling also achieved nods in the British Actress of the Year category, which includes Irish talent, along with Emily Blunt (Sicario), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) and Carey Mulligan (Suffragette).
