Yusuf Islam's spokesman has refuted reports the singer, formerly known as Cat Stevens, refused to speak to non-veiled women at the Echo Awards in Germany last month. Marc Marot said: "The accusation Yusuf doesn't speak or interact with women who are not veiled is an absurdity."
Islam received the Lifetime Achievement award for his "lifework as a musician and an ambassador between cultures".
