She hasn't been seen on the big screen since the movie version of the musical Annie was released in 2014.
Now, Cameron Diaz has confirmed that she is "actually retired," as the Daily Mail reports.
There has been much speculation about her status after the 45-year-old actress stepped back from the spotlight in recent years.
Selma Blair, 45, Diaz's co-star from 2002's The Sweetest Thing, added fuel to the rumors earlier this month when she spoke about her pal getting out of the business.
"We were reminiscing about the film," she told Metro News in an interview published on March 11.
"I would have liked to do a sequel, but Cameron's retired from acting. She's like, 'I'm done.'"
Blair later clarified her comments on Twitter.
"Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview," Blair told her social media followers. "CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING. And for more breaking news: I am NOW retiring from being Cameron Diaz's spokesperson."
But it seems there was some truth to Blair's statements.
During a Sweetest Thing reunion interview with Diaz, Blair and Christina Applegate that Entertainment Weekly published on Thursday, Diaz admitted she had retired.
When the trio revealed they hadn't got together since filming the 2002 movie. Diaz asked: "Goddamn it, why not?"
"I don't know. You guys tell me. I see Selma," Applegate, 46, replied, to which Blair added, "Our kids are friends. Cameron?"
"That's so awesome," Diaz replied. "I'm totally down. I'm...actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies."
"I'm literally doing nothing, too! I'm semi-retired," Applegate shared. "I haven't worked for years. I'm a mom, that's what we do. So I'm around, man."
Applegate was stretching the truth a bit. She appeared in Crash Pad and A Bad Moms Christmas last year and has TV movie Your Time Is Up in pre-production.
Since Annie in 2014, Diaz has tied the knot with Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, 39, and has been enjoying time away from Hollywood.
