NEW YORK - Rapper Busta Rhymes has been arrested in New York for driving while impaired by alcohol, police said.
Rhymes was pulled over shortly after midnight Thursday (local time) in midtown Manhattan while driving a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali, which police described as having "excessively tinted windows." The rapper had been driving erratically, a police official said.
When officers approached Rhymes, there was a "strong odour of alcohol on his breath," the police said.
Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, has had a string of run-ins with New York City police in the past year. On May 8, he is due to appear before a judge on two charges of assault and for a February 22 incident in which he was caught driving without a license, the district attorney's office said.
Rhymes was due to be arraigned in Manhattan, the district attorney's office said.
