LOS ANGELES — A lawyer for Bruce Willis says a lawsuit against his client alleging breach of contract and seeking US$4 million is "absurd" and without merit.
Lawyer Marty Singer said that three production companies suing Willis alleging he failed to fulfill contractual duties on the proposed film Three Stories About Joan didn't fulfill their own responsibilities.
The lawsuit filed against Willis and his production company alleges that on September 29 Willis quit as director without notice in violation of the agreement.
Singer says the companies failed to put money into an escrow account for Willis before film production started.
"Why would you render services knowing you're not getting paid?" said Singer. "I've been practising over thirty years and I can't think of a more frivolous lawsuit that I've ever seen."
He says Willis will file his own action against the producers soon.
