Hollywood super couple
Angelina Jolie
and
Brad Pitt
are suing a British tabloid that published allegations they were to split.
A lawyer representing Brangelina has issued a statement declaring that the celebrity pair has begun legal proceedings against the
News of The World
(NOTW) newspaper.
Lawyer
Keith Schilling
said the tabloid's story, published on 24 January, included "false and intrusive allegations", reports BBC News.
"We can confirm unequivocally...that the allegations published by the
News of the World
are false as well as intrusive," said Schilling in a statement.
"We have advised them to bring proceedings, which they have now done."
Schilling says the newspaper had also failed to meet a demand for an apology and a retraction for printing the allegations.
The NOTW claimed in their report that the A-list couple - who aren't married - had consulted divorce lawyers in early January and signed a US$330 million split deal.
The elaborate report also stated the pair had agreed on joint custody of their six kids - who were to remain with Jolie - and an amicable division of their fortune.
Brad and Angelina have three adopted children and three biological - a daughter called Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox.
The report also claimed we were to expect an "imminent split announcement" from the couple.
Schilling's statement also negates the widely-reported rumour that
Sorrel Trope
, a divorce lawyer in Los Angeles, was advising the pair during their 'split'.
"I have had no contact from...Angelina Jolie and/or Brad Pitt," Trope was quoted as saying in a statement from Schillings Lawyers.
So there you have it. The definitive verdict. Nothing says loved-up couple more than a juicy lawsuit.
No word from the NOTW as yet.
