Injured 'Boy' actor James Rolleston is still in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit after a car crash on Tuesday night.
Rolleston, who rose to fame starring in the celebrated New Zealand film Boy, was seriously injured when his car struck a bridge on State Highway 35 near Opotiki.
Bay of Plenty District Health Board spokeswoman Diana Marriot said Rolleston was transferred to Waikato Hospital from Tauranga Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Today his family thanked everyone for their concern following Tuesday night's road accident.
"The family would like to thank all the well wishers who have sent so many messages of love and support, they are finding this a huge comfort at this time," said Marriot.
No further details will be released and the family will make no future comment and ask that their privacy be respected.
The car Rolleston was in hit the Otara bridge about 10.30pm on Tuesday.
