The book I love most is ... The Master And Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov (the Michael Glenny translation). A blend of fantasy and satire - mysterious, complex and beautifully written. In the early days of my now 22-year relationship it was presented as a deal-breaker ... if I didn't like it we were all wrong.
The book I'm reading right now is ... Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. Greed, lust, politics, religion and characters you can feel. It also casts some of those fantastic English ancestral seats in a tawdry light ... obtained by pure treachery by self-serving hypocrites.
The book I'd like to read next is ... Just Kids by Patti Smith. Should be fascinating.
The book that changed me is ... Road Code. Life can never be the same once you have the power to jump in the car and drive.
The book I wish I'd never read ... Not one. If a book fails to hold my attention I put it down and find one that does. I have read non-fiction books that have sickened or disturbed me but it was information I wanted to know.
Jubilation Choir will be performing in the Auckland Town Hall this Friday. Bookings through The Edge, 0800 BUY TICKETS or buytickets.co.nz.
