Getting the world's richest nations to hand over promised aid for Africa is like "getting blood out of a stone", rock stars Bono and Bob Geldof reportedly said at the Group of Eight summit yesterday.
The pair met G8 leaders, including US President George W Bush and German chancellor Angela Merkel. Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States have been accused of reneging on a pledge made at a G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland in 2005 to double aid to Africa by 2010.
