Orlando Bloom says he's "really excited" at the prospect of becoming a father after his new wife Miranda Kerr confirmed the world's worst-kept secret, that she's having a baby.
The actor, who was in Munich to start filming The Three Musketeers, said he was looking forward to juggling his career with life as a new parent.
"I'll go home as often as possible. I'm really excited about it, it's great," he said.
"She'll come out here too."
Kerr and Bloom were married in July in a secret wedding after getting engaged a month earlier.
She confirmed her baby news in an interview with Spanish Vogue, following persistent rumours she was expecting the couple's first child.
"Yes, I am pregnant - four months along," she said in the interview.
Kerr said it had not been easy keeping the good news under wraps, adding she had suffered from morning sickness during the first trimester.
"I remember on one occasion in the early days when it was still too soon to say anything, and I had a dreadful time at one job," recalled the 27-year-old Aussie beauty.
The couple began dating in late 2007, and Kerr - who models for Victoria's Secret and is the face of Australian retail giant David Jones - has made no secret of wanting to settle down and start a family.
In an earlier interview two years ago, she said: "My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch."
Filming on The Three Musketeers, which is the latest attempt to bring the adventure stories of French novelist Alexander Dumas to the screen, starts next week. Bloom will play the Duke of Buckingham.
Director Paul Anderson has promised a "much sexier version" of the story, which is expected to be in cinemas in September 2011.
