New James Bond Daniel Craig brought traffic to a halt in Sydney at the Australian premiere of the new 007 movie Casino Royale.

The first blond Bond wooed up to 400 fans gathered outside Sydney's State Theatre.

The controversial decision to cast Craig as 007 in Casino Royale looks to have paid off handsomely.

Variety reports the movie is set to become the most successful Bond film in history having racked up over US$312 million ($457.54 million) at the worldwide box office.

The movie earned about US$116 million in the US and a further US$196 million internationally, the trade paper reported.
