KEY POINTS:
Steve Irwin's eight-year-old daughter refuses to cry over him - because she doesn't want to upset her daddy.
Little Bindi - who moved thousands of people to tears with her heartfelt speech at the late Crocodile Hunter's memorial service - says she tried hard to be brave, because that is what her father always taught her.
She told Britain's News of the World newspaper: "Sometimes I cry and cry. But then I just think, 'It's happened. And you can't do anything about it.' He's not hurt and he's in a great place.
"He hated it when I cried. So I'm trying really hard not to make him really sad that I'm sad."
Bindi's apparent lack of emotion after Steve's tragic death - who was pierced through the heart by a stingray while filming in Australia on September 4 - caused concern for her mother Terri, who took the youngster to see a psychiatrist.
However, Bindi insists being happy is what Steve would have wanted.
She said: "He would be so happy that I'm happy. When I look back at all the memories that's what daddy wanted most for me. Some people might think, 'My word, she's happy, how can that be?' But I think everyone has a choice to be happy or sad."
