Comic Billy Connolly suffered a life-threatening blood clot that doctors failed to spot after he underwent surgery for prostate cancer.
Wife Pamela Stephenson says her husband was rushed to hospital in a taxi after developing the potential deadly clot in his thigh, but still found time to crack jokes about her driving on the way.
She told the Daily Mail she knew it was a clot but the doctors weren't listening to her, then an intern told her to get Connolly to the hospital right away.
The 71-year-old Scottish star was discharged, but was taken back to hospital after the problem re-emerged during filming for a documentary about dealing with death.
Connolly was last September diagnosed with prostate cancer and Parkinson's disease on the same day, having been prescribed a hearing aid and treatment for heartburn days earlier.
