The bidding war for photos of Brad and Angelina's twins - who may or may not yet have been born - has reached fever pitch. Photo / Reuters

KEY POINTS:

A fierce bidding war has broken out between two celebrity gossip magazines for the first exclusive pictures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins.

Two of America's leading magazines, OK! and People, are reportedly battling it out to get their mitts on snaps of Brangelina's as yet unborn twins.

Jolie and Pitt are expecting twins to add to their brood of adopted children, Maddox, Pax and Zahara, and biological daughter Shiloh.

According to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, bidding has soared to US $15 million (NZ $19 million), and counting.

A rep for People says: "We'd love to see the photos in People. We wish the family well."

However, rival publisher OK! has been tight-lipped over proceedings and declined to comment on any figures; reps would only admit that the magazine would be "foolish" not to bid for the exclusive snaps.

If the mooted $15 million figure is to be believed, it eclipses the mullah coughed up by People for pictures of the couple's first baby Shiloh in 2006. The magazine reportedly paid $4.1 million for the North American rights to the pictures at the time.

All profits from the sale of the pictures were donated to charity by Brangelina.

Rumours were rife late last week that Jolie had already given birth in France, after she went into labour on Sunday.

US TV show Entertainment Tonight claimed Jolie had given birth to two girls, and that the proud parents had already named them Isla (pronounced eye-la) Marcheline (after Jolie's mother) and Amelie Jane (after Pitt's mother) Jolie-Pitt.

Jolie's rep later dismissed the claims: "Angelina has not given birth. She is fine, enjoying her home and her family in France," Jolie's rep said.

So what prompted ET's botched exclusive?

It appears that their premature announcement wasn't as ill-judged as you might think.

Someone has been impersonating Jolie's personal assistant and been feeding porkie pies to the press, according to the star's lawyers.

The imposter reportedly used a fake email address to distribute fake and erroneous reports to the press, including news of Jolie's twin non-birth last week.

Jolie's lawyers distributed this letter to key media yesterday: "A random individual has engaged in a scheme to intentionally harm my client and deceive her fans, the public and the media through illegal and tortuous impersonation of Ms Jolie's long-time assistant, Holly.

"The individual who claims to be, and to whom the media has relied upon as, a 'reliable source' is not my client's assistant, nor does the email address belong to my client's assistant."

I bet Jolie's positively fuming over this one.

Dress drama

Sarah Jessica Parker is reportedly furious after she was tricked into wearing a third-hand dress to the premiere of Sex and The City: The Movie in New York last week.

SJP wore a designer dress to the premiere, and was assured by her people that no one had worn it before.

However, it transpires that Lindsay Lohan wore the very same dress to a star-studded party earlier this year, and it was also photographed on the back of some socialite in New York last month.

Parker is spitting tacks over the affair: "In the big picture, this is not important, but there is a relationship between the entertainment industry and fashion. We've watched sales dwindle and we've watched people be less inclined to spend money on clothes," she reportedly said.

"Look, my affection for the dress hasn't changed, but what they did was so short-sighted. It's just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.

"I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it."

Heart scare

Frasier star Kelsey Grammer, 53, was hospitalised over the weekend after suffering a mild hard attack, news reports claim.

Grammar was taken to a hospital near his home in Hawaii.

His rep released this statement: "Grammer experienced symptoms Saturday morning after paddle boarding with his wife Camille at their Hawaiian home. Grammer was immediately taken to an area hospital where it was determined that he had a mild heart attack."

Forgotten Marilyn

Some vintage video footage of Marilyn Monroe on the set of her last ever movie The Misfits has surfaced.

An extra on the set of the 1961 movie had unprecedented access to film Monroe and co-star Clark Gable, and the resulting footage is haunting, if not beguiling.

The footage is appraised to be worth at least US $40,000 and will be up for auction at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas later this month.

Lohan's big stink

Fair-weather actress Lindsay Lohan is all set to extinguish the stench emanating from her carcass of a career by launching her own perfume range.

Following in the footsteps of Britney and J-Lo, Lohan reveals she's been toying with the idea for a while.

She tells The Sunday Times magazine that she's "sorta (sic) been experimenting with different scents," and has ended up with "this oil that I made up myself".

Quote of the day

"You know what's weird? Even I'm not that interested in my personal life anymore."

- Ben Affleck

Diddy trashes Diaz rumours

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has dismissed rumours that he is dating There's Something About Mary star Cameron Diaz.

Tongues began wagging when they were spotted looking "cozy" together at a book launch party last week.

But Combs says their relationship is platonic.

"It is ridiculous that two celebrities of the opposite sex can't just hang out with a group of friends without it being reported as more than that. We are just friends," he tells the New York Daily News.

So there you have it.

That went well...

Denise Richards is nothing if not consistent.

The bitter ex of Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen has launched her own reality TV show called Denise Richards: I'm Complicated, and it's addictive viewing - a bit like the way you just can't stop looking at a car crash.

Anyway, Richards showed her true colours during a recent episode when she laid into People magazine journo Lycia Naff over some trash talk she'd printed about her and her kids.

Click here to watch the video clip.

Naff's smirk and smugness deserves Richards' contempt.

I glow inside as I recall that Naff once played the role of a triple-breasted mutant prostitute in the 1990 Schwarzenegger flick Total Recall.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

She's just too sexy

Coldplay's album collaboration with Kylie Minogue will see the light of day.

The group's frontman Chris Martin reveals that the Kylie hook-up will be released next year, after it failed to make the final cut of new album Viva La Vida because it was "too sexy".

Martin says, "Well, it's just too sexy. At this point we cannot be that sexy, also we haven't quite finished it. It's a song called Lunar and Kylie is particularly brilliant on it."

Baby boom

Christina Aguilera has revealed that she's enjoying motherhood so much, she's up for having another baby.

She tells Extra that she was made for motherhood and that she "absolutely" wants more children.

Dirty chips

See, even supermodels get the munchies and eat at Maccy D's.

Kate Moss was snapped this week as she sauntered out of a McDonald's diner, stocked up with dirty chips and fizz.

Comedy feet

Now I totally get the gas-bagging about Paris Hilton's legendary huge hooves.

Cop an eyeful of this.

Hilton, your feet's too big.
