Ben Affleck has been asked about the awkward 'Sad Affleck viral video that went nuts last year. And his response was perfect.

Appearing on BBC Radio to promote his new movie Live By Night, Affleck was asked about what he learnt as a director and actor from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

That's when the actor brought up the now-infamous interview that sparked the 'Sad Affleck' viral video shared around the world.

"It taught me not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don't say anything and they can lay Simon & Garfunkel tracks over it," Affleck joked. "That's one thing I learned."

If you missed the viral moment, it occurred during an interview when one reporter asked Affleck and his co-star Henry Cavill about all the bad reviews Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received.

As Cavill launched into a very diplomatic answer, Affleck sat mute and apparently heartbroken, his eyes cast downwards, seemingly processing the flak he just copped.

One YouTube user spiced the awkward moment up by overlaying Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence over the top to match Affleck's solemn stare.

After joking about the moment on BBC Radio this week, Affleck gave a more serious answer to the reporter's question: "I learned a ton, actually, making that movie," he said. "I had not made a movie of that scale. I didn't know what the technology was capable of doing nowadays. The last big blockbustery movie I made was Armageddon, which was in 1997."

Affleck will return to the DC franchise with hopefully happier results in Justice League, due out November 21.
