Ben Affleck has hit back at critics who bagged out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The film was panned when it hit cinemas back in March and has just a 27 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

"A movie that beats you into submission and makes you wonder if the sun will ever come out again." - The New Republic
"Underdeveloped, overlong and stupendously dispiriting." - Wall Street Journal
"Constantly threatening to collapse from self-seriousness, this epic has way too much of everything, including CGI and Oscar winners up the wazoo." - New York Post
Despite the bad reviews, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice went on to make more than $1.19 billion worldwide.
"It was a huge hit movie," Affleck said to Fox 5 when asked about the movie's critical reception.
"So many more people went to see that than any movie I've made in my career. It was the biggest hit of my career. And then it had a lot of editorial negativity."
Affleck, who played Batman in the movie, said he received a lot of positive comments from fans and doesn't think the editorial negativity was necessarily justified.
"It was interesting, that movie, because it was judged not necessarily on execution so much as like its tone," he said.
"People seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie, and I thought that was interesting because that's so subjective. Tone is not a qualitative thing. It's subjective, right? Some tones resonate with me that might not with you. And the tone of the movie was really parallel to the Frank Miller book [The Dark Knight Returns], which I liked and thought was great."
And just for the record, Affleck added that he "loved" the movie.
The Australian site cited a 'heightened threat level' as the issue.
