KEY POINTS:
Xbox 360 G
Pros: The Olympics start tomorrow, and this Xbox 360/PS3/PC title gives armchair athletes the chance to get some virtual exercise. There are 38 events across 10 sports, from the mundane (running) to the reasonably exciting (kayaking). Play individual sports, or play the entire Games. Events can be played against AI, or up to three in multiplayer. If you're keen to see how you stack up in the global village, online gameplay is entertaining, albeit slightly disheartening. Graphics are sharp, but certainly not at the peak of next-gen performance, although they are fluid enough to make for exciting play.
Cons: The learning curve involved to be able to play everything well is extreme - there's a lot of high-speed button bashing reminiscent of the old Hypersports arcade game. With uninspiring activities like gymnastics floor routines padding out the content, you'd have to be a fan or super-competitive to want to complete the whole Beijing experience (minus the political dramatics).
Verdict: Entertaining if you're a rabid Olympics fan, but there are more exciting sports titles out there. Scrapes through for a generous bronze.
