Football star David Beckham has made a frantic dash from his new home in Los Angeles back to London after his father suffered a heart attack. Ted Beckham, 59, was rushed to a London hospital after complaining of chest pains while at home in Chingford.
Newspaper reports said paramedics had to resuscitate Mr Beckham after he had a heart attack in an ambulance on the way to hospital. An unnamed friend of the Beckhams said the footballer was "frantic with worry" about his ailing father.
David's relationship with his father has been strained after Mr Beckham published an unauthorised book, David Beckham: My Son, two years ago. After the book's release, David, 32, didn't speak to his father for months.
