KEY POINTS:
Just when it seemed Avril Lavigne was in the clear, her song writing ability and authenticity has been called into question again.
Music buffs have pointed to Lavigne's new song I Don't Have to Try and made direct comparisons to Peaches' 2003 track I'm the Kinda.
A music clip on YouTube illustrates the similarities between the two songs.
The allegations are the latest in a spate of attacks on Lavigne, who has been accused of plagiarism by 70s' songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer of the band, The Rubinoos.
The pair have filed a federal law suit against the Canadian pop starlet, claiming her current hit Girlfriend is a rip-off of their 1979 track I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.
Likewise, Canadian songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk recently told Performing Songwriting she gave Lavigne the song Contagious which features on Lavigne's latest album The Best Damn Thing.
However, Kreviazuk has since issued a statement withdrawing her comments.
"When I saw the track listing to Avril's new record, it caught my attention that she had the same title as a song I had sent her a while back.
"When I heard it, I immediately realised it was a coincidence. The songs have nothing in common. ... My statements and any inference from my statements, which call into question Avril's ethics or ability as a respected and acclaimed songwriter, should be disregarded and are retracted."
The statement was issued by Nettwerk Music Group, which represents both Lavigne and Kreviazuk.
Lavigne has yet to comment on these latest allegations of plagiarism but recently said she was considering legal action against Kreviazuk.
