KEY POINTS:
It's not like Elton John needs the money. So maybe it's because the big sir loves us so much that he's coming back next month, making it the third time in 18 months the flamboyant singer and songwriter has visited.
He played Wellington at the end of 2006, New Plymouth in December and now it's Auckland's turn. The Rocket Man plays Vector Arena on May 14. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday from Ticketmaster.
Also in May, but something entirely different, American extreme band Dillinger Escape Plan, who play a brand of deformed and sonic hardcore and metal, visit New Zealand for the first time. They play the Transmission Room on May 21 in support of latest album Ire Works.
Meanwhile, dance punks !!! (that's pronounced chk chk chk) are coming to New Zealand to play shows in Auckland at the Kings Arms on May 28 and in Wellington at the San Francisco Bathhouse the following night. The eight-piece band will be joined by two ring-ins on the tour to help bring the music of latest album Myth Takes to life.
