Harbour views, sunny spaces, public events and safer, greener places for kids to play could all be part of the Auckland waterfront's future.
More than 200 people have completed a survey asking what they would like to see done with the downtown area from lower Queen St to the space between Princes and Captain Cook wharves.
The changes are to be made over 10 years, funded by the sale of Queen Elizabeth Square - valued at up to $60 million - to Precinct Properties.
Recurring themes from survey responses on the Shape Auckland website include wanting sea views and sunny, relaxing open spaces.
Aucklanders also want the area to be fun and quirky, with cafes, bars, restaurants and picnic spaces.
