Auckland City Limits announces a new facet to the festival today: Auckland Kiddie Limits.
In an effort to make it a fun day for the whole family, introduce a new generation to the festival-going experience, and make it easy for those music lovers out there with kids, they're creating a small mini-festival inside the festival where kids and adults can hang out for some small-sized fun and rock 'n' roll on Saturday, March 19 at Western Springs.
Kids under 10 are free with ticketed adults, and all are welcome across the festival site - however there will be a special area set-up in the Motat Village green space, with a specific music and entertainment line-up curated by Finn from the 95bfm kids' show, along with specialist kid-oriented food stalls, and loads of fun interactive activities.
Musical acts include Kath Bee, known for her songs like Dad, I Wanna Be A Camel, and Dragons Under My Bed, Apra 2015 Children's Music prize winner Levity Beet, lively three-piece Mr Roberelli, and a performance up-and-coming band Sparrow, from Auckland's School of Rock.
There will also be a session of mad, live storytelling of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes by theatre company Flaxworks, music, instrument-making, hip-hop workshops with Serato (the New Zealand company that leads the world in DJ production and beatmaking software), kids karaoke, punk rock hairdos, temporary tattoos, a giant art wall, and a reading area for some chill-out time.
