Auckland Art Fair back with a bang

The Auckland Art Fair kicks off tonight, after a three-year hiatus.

The event is held at The Cloud on Auckland's waterfront, and will run until Sunday.

Forty dealer galleries from New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific and South America -- chosen by a committee of gallerists, art patrons and cultural commentators -- will display a selection of artists' work.

Galleries include Rarotonga's Bergman Gallery, Sydney's The Commercial, Santiago's MUTT and Milford Galleries Dunedin.

General access to the fair costs $30 and tickets to an "artists' party" on Friday from 5pm to 9pm is $45.

Doors are open between 11am and 5pm tomorrow and Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets to tonight's opening have sold out.

Pop-up eateries across The Cloud will provide food and drinks, and temporary bookshop Art Books NZ will sell art and photo books.
