KEY POINTS:
Don't consider TV an artform? An upcoming local show might change your mind.
New Artland is a new series in which 13 epic works of art are created in front of the cameras. Some of the country's top contemporary artists were invited to choose a place in New Zealand with which they share a personal connection and create an artwork with help from the community. The show documents the journey from the artist's studio to the unveiling.
Artists working on the series include multimedia artist Lonnie Hutchison, photographer Ans Westra and emerging talents Amy Howden-Chapman and Biddy Livesey (aka "Raised by Wolves".)
New Artland premieres on TVNZ's primetime weeknight Showcase in April. The show is hosted by musician and cartoonist Chris Knox, made by Television Spaceman (Let's Get Inventin') and produced by Gemma Gracewood (Frontseat, Flight of the Conchords: A Texan Odyssey, Dead Letters).
