New Zealand's art world and the music industry will collide next month for a worthy cause, as the Art for A Cure exhibition is launched, aiming to raise more than $200,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Trust.
The inaugural exhibition will feature works by leading artists, inspired by the songs of our best known musicians. Each work is expected to sell for about $15,000 and will be exhibited at the Hopetoun Alpha during a 10-day public exhibition next month.
Karl Maughan, Dick Frizzell, Martin Poppelwell, Peter Madden, Virginia King and Stanley Palmer are just some artists participating and will take their inspiration from the likes of Don McGlashan, Neil Finn, Nathan Haines, Lawrence Arabia, Whirimako Black and Eve de Castro-Robinson.
The exhibition opens on Thursday October 22 and entry is free. The auction is on Friday October 30.
