Arnold Schwarzenegger's advisors have denied the former body builder and Hollywood actor is going to build a home in Queenstown.
It was earlier reported Mr Schwarzenegger, now governor of California, planned to build a multi-million dollar home on land he owned alongside Lake Wakatipu.
However, his press secretary Aaron McLear told NZPA today this was not the case.
"There are no plans to build a house," he said.
He said Mr Schwarzenegger had not visited the country recently and did not know if there were any immediate plans to travel here.
A spokeswoman for the Overseas Investment Office told The Dominion Post it had not received an application in Mr Schwarzenegger's name.
Applications were required only if a foreigner seeks to buys sensitive land or business assets worth more than $100 million.
Celebrities who have chosen to build homes in central Otago include country singer Shania Twain, US actor John Travolta, actor Sam Neill, and millionaire jeweller Michael Hill
