American country music veteran Emmylou Harris is to play a show at a specially reconfigured Vector Arena in November. The multiple Grammy winner who last performed here in 2001 is returning to Auckland with her band The Red Dirt Boys on November 18 following dates in Australia.
Harris will be the first to play at the Auckland indoor stadium venue in its new Vector Arena Theatre Mode. The fit-to-scale plan uses curtains and stage placement to scale back the proportions of the arena to better suit audiences of 1500 to 3000 people.
"The beauty of this new mode is that it creates the sort of cosy ballroom or theatre feel that most becomes an artist such as Emmylou Harris," say the show's promoters.
Her tour follows last year's release of Hard Bargain, the multiple Grammy winner's 26th studio album since her 1969 debut.
