Green Day will play Auckland's Vector Arena in December as part of the 21st Century Breakdown world tour.
Tickets go on sale on July 1, but in an effort to combat ticket scalping 300 GA standing section tickets will be available only to fans who line up at the Vector Arena box office.
The band and promoter, The Frontier Touring Company, say the initiative marks a return to the "good old days of rock concert lineups".
Each person who queues up will be able to buy a maximum of two tickets.
Tickets bought online, over the phone or at outlets will also be subject to tighter controls, with purchasers initially being issued a receipt only.
Actual tickets will not be delivered until early November and people who change their address after having booked will need to update their details with the relevant ticketing agency.
* Green Day plays Vector Arena on Saturday, December 19. Tickets available from July 1 at ticketmaster.co.nz.
300 GA standing tickets will also be available from the Vector Arena box office in Mahuhu Crescent, Parnell.
