KEY POINTS:
Buxom, blonde and armed with an acid tongue that can take strips off the staunchest of men, Outrageous Fortune's newest arrival Sheree, sounds an awful lot like resident matriarch Cheryl.
Actress Tyler-Jane Mitchel, who used to moonlight as a newreader on George FM alongside her regular acting gigs, says her character is an island - emotionally independent and void of conventional needs - who's not afraid to lash out at Cheryl and her cronies.
Mitchel scored the role after auditioning for two other characters on the show.
"Evidently, the writers saw something a bit Cheryl-esque in me, so Sheree was born."
Starring opposite Grant Bowler wasn't a daunting prospect for Mitchel.
"I'd never seen Grant on television prior to Outrageous so I didn't think of him any differently to anyone else. It turns out I've probably seen him in lots of things because he's quite a chameleon. But I wasn't aware that I had so it wasn't intimidating."
Likewise, Mitchel wasn't too fazed about her on-screen wardrobe, which sees her in various states of undress throughout the season premiere.
"You're always offered a lot of options when it comes to modesty. Everyone's very accommodating. I just kind of roll with it," she says.
Co-star Bowler says Mitchel is a welcome addition to the cast, bringing a new energy and dynamic with her.
"What makes the show work is those really strong dynamics," says Bowler.
"Tyler's turned out to be a treat. She has strong ideas and brings a lot to the table."
