Another AC/DC concert has been added to the Aussie rockers' tour, due to massive demand.

Promoter Garry Van Egmond said 45,000 tickets sold in three hours and the second show was added to save disappointment for many fans.

Hardened fans of the band camped out in the 3 degree chilly weather overnight, to make sure they got tickets to the band's New Zealand concerts next year.

Some fans dressed in the iconic prep-school blazer and cap while others huddled in sleeping bags.

The rockers, who have sold over 200 million records worldwide, are considered by many to be the most epic rock band of all time, and bring their Black Ice tour to New Zealand in January.

Their first gig will be in Wellington on January 28, 2010 - with a new show scheduled for January 30 - with the sole Auckland concert on February 4.

Interest in the rock and roll band's tour has been high. When tickets went on sale in Australia recently, they smashed all previous records. It became the fastest selling tour in Australian history.

In Melbourne, AC/DC hit fever pitch where fans queued overnight then snapped up 110,000 tickets in 45 minutes.

Nationwide, more than half a million tickets were sold in 3 hours.

It will be the band's first time in New Zealand for 13 years and promoters promise the most spectacular event ever staged in this country.

The production will be moved around the country by 48 semi-trailers, containing stage equipment to be assembled by a crew of more than 100.

Tickets, priced $160, went on sale at 9am this morning.
