A new TV adaptation of the classic children's novel Anne of Green Gables is headed to Netflix.
But for fans of the beloved 1980s version, which starred Megan Follows as the fiery heroine Anne Shirley, the new show could come as a surprise.
The upcoming eight-episode series has been penned by Moira Walley-Beckett, who won an Emmy for her work on Breaking Bad, a critically acclaimed series about a science teacher-turned-meth manufacturer, The New York Times reports.
Anne of Green Gables, the 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, followed the adventures of Anne Shirley, an orphan sent to live with a pair of elderly siblings on Prince Edward Island.
