Anika Moa is moving back to Christchurch, after 15 years, with her twin sons.
Moa, who grew up in Dunsandel, tweeted yesterday: "After 15 years living away from CHCH I'm moving back home!My sons will know their cuzzies and whanau. So Happy!!"
The singer-songwriter, who shot to fame in 2002 with the song Youthful, has been a prominent supporter of the Marriage Equality Bill which passed through Parliament last year.
Moa came out as a lesbian in 2005 and was joined with her Australian partner Angela Fyfe (the burlesque dancer known as Azaria Universe) in a civil union in 2010.
The couple separated last year, but have twin sons Taane Diamond and Barry Kowhai together.
