Angelina Jolie has jumped onboard an exciting new animated movie about a young girl living under the Taleban regime in Afghanistan.
The actress/director will serve as an executive producer on the film The Breadwinner, which will made by Oscar-nominated Irish company Cartoon Saloon.
The Breadwinner is based on Canadian author Deborah Ellis' novel about a girl who must disguise herself as a boy to land a job and provide for her family after her father is imprisoned.
"I am delighted to be working with a talented team of artists who I know will do justice to the richness, creativity and strength of Afghan culture and to little girls like (lead character) Parvana," Jolie said.
"Millions of young girls like Parvana are growing up today under oppression or conflict, and helping their families to survive in those conditions. This story is a reminder of the immense value of their contribution."
