Amazon in talks to revive Frankie Adam's acclaimed sci-fi show The Expanse

The hit sci-fi series The Expanse looks set to be revived just days after Syfy announced it was cancelling the show.

The show, which stars former Shortland Street actor Frankie Adams, is one of the most acclaimed sci-fi shows currently screening on television and has a 100 per cent review rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yet the network dropped the show after three successful seasons prompting massive backlash from fans who even launched a petition to save the show.

However now it seems Expanse fans have got their wish.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Studios is in talks to revive the series which is apparently one of CEO Jeff Bezos' favorite properties.

They are reportedly "near a deal" to bring the series back for a fourth season - just 10 days after Syfy dropped the series.

THR's sources say Bezos is a big fan of the book The Expanse is based on and was not impressed that it went to Syfy's NBCUniversal.

The series' third season earned rave reviews and a 100 per cent review rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nerdist applauded its "snare-tight plots, boiling tension and gorgeous interplanetary scenery".
