Punk rockers in the North Island can relax because the Buzzcocks have announced two side shows when they are here in November for Christchurch's Southern Amp.
The legendary British band, who along with the Clash and Sex Pistols were at the forefront of the punk movement in the 70s, play Bar Bodega in Wellington on November 13 and the Studio in Auckland the night after.
Also, another Southern Amp featuring Grinspoon, Mammal and The Earlybirds is on at The Studio on November 13.
And the summer months just got busier, with biennial music festival Splore back again in February.
What started out as a dance music festival has turned into a music, art and design event that runs from February 19-21 at Tapapakanga Regional Park on the Firth of Thames (near Kaiaua). The line-up has yet to be announced but check out splore.net for updates in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Boh Runga headlines the inaugural Coro Music Festival at Coromandel Area School, Coromandel Town, on January 3. Runga, who will be back in New Zealand for a summer break from her base in Los Angeles, joins the Electric Confectionaires, Batucada Sound Machine and Tahuna Breaks on the bill for the concert, which will raise money for improving education on the Coromandel.
And on Tuesday, the first lot of Big Day Out acts for next year's show are to be announced, so watch this space for all the details next week.
Lastly, Seattle singer/songwriter Tiny Vipers (whose real name is Jesy Fortino) plays two shows in New Zealand next month, including a gig at Auckland's Wine Cellar on October 13.
Fortino, who is on iconic Seattle label Sub Pop like Flight of the Conchords, is playing in support of her new album, Life On Earth.
