KEY POINTS:
Former Breakfast presenter Alison Mau is set to go head to head with her husband Simon Dallow when she takes on the role of Prime news reader next month.
Mau will fill in for presenter Suzy Clarkson from July 20, while she is on three months maternity leave.
The former TV One presenter will front Prime News at 5.30pm and Sky Evening News at 7pm, every Friday and Saturday.
This will see her compete with her husband Dallow in the nightly news ratings battle.
Dallow co-presents TV One News with Wendy Petrie, every weeknight at 6pm.
The announcement comes just 18 months after Prime dumped Mau as its news anchor, when the channel was bought by Sky Television.
At the the time, Mau spoke out against the network and said the move was "inexplicably callous".
Mau had been tipped to replace Clarkson but instead the role went to Eric Young, with Clarkson staying on board to anchor the weekend news.
Despite the controversy, it appears Mau and Prime resolved their issues as Mau went on to present Prime's documentary slot Prime Presents on Sunday evenings.
