Auckland-based Hollie Fullbrook spins a delicate web of warm, but wintry stories on this, her debut album.
Painting little pictures with the gentle strokes of her calm, caramel vocals, layered over acoustic guitar and the odd plucked cello, her songs rise and fall like a lapping tide as she strolls past the Adelphi Apartments in Wellington, recalls an old lady she once knew, ponders browned newspaper clippings about a suicidal Brazilian priest wearing polypropylene and finishes gazing out into the cold wintry air in the beautifully melancholy Bird in the Thyme.
'Tis the season to be woeful, and this is the perfect accompanying soundtrack.
