Album Review: The Yoots, Singalong with The Yoots

The brainchild of Fat Freddy's bubbly trombonist Hopepa (aka Joe Lindsay), this album is a delightfully brassy, bouncy, and at times moochy affair. The cool thing about it is that it's made up of instrumentals of classic Maori tunes for you to sing along to - and your backing band just happens to be most of Fat Freddy's and few of their closest relatives and mates. So crank it up and get down to Tutira Mai, skank it up with E Papa Waiari, and swoon your way through A.E.I.O.U.. And never fear because the lyrics are all included. Ideally suited for your next garage party, but could go down just as well at half time during one of those upcoming Rugby World Cup games. Tahi, rua, toru, wha ...
