British sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank have don't look the most chipper lasses on the block in their promotional images - there's a haunting, glass-half-emptiness about them that transcends their melodramatic folk songs.
Accompanied by wailing violins, chilling minor chords and pained brass, most of the tracks sound like they could be the sound track to some thriller about a lonely child.
But there's still something warm and comforting about the sisters' harmonies, and a charm in their very antiquated, peasants-of-the-estate sound that goes down like a nice piece of Olde English prose or a flickering black and white movie.
