Album number 36 from the Mexican-American guitarist is an instrumental record (bar one track) dedicated to the Native American Indians in light of the Native American Apology Resolution which came into US law in 2009.
So it is both poignant and spiritual in scope, though Metatron, a kind of Touch the Wind rip-off, might be intended to sound uplifting but it just sounds over-the-top cheesy.
And there are other overwrought and ultimately weak moments, such as In the Light of a New Day, but they are balanced out by the likes of ass-shaking acoustic Latin groover Eres La Luz, and the heavy, almost dissonant and doomed, Nomad, which later gives way to Santana's trademark fire and grace guitar playing.
