Put together by Auckland DJ and record shop owner Cian O'Donnell, this collection of tracks by Japanese artists was inspired following a radio show he did in March marking the first anniversary of the earthquake in Japan.
Not only is the album for a good cause (all proceeds from the sales of the CD go to Red Cross) it's one of those albums that makes you want to go out and source more music from the artists included here - and delve deeper into a (mostly) little-known scene.
From the lilting, spatial beats of Japanese beat master DJ Krush's Kuon/Far Away and the vibes and flute flurries of DJ Takemura and Kool Jazz Productions' Hoping for the Sun to the jazzy piano jam of J.A.M.'s Roy's Seat and Soil & Pimp Sessions' equally jazzy The White Widow, this is one smooth compilation.
