Pushing play on R.E.M.'s 15th studio album Collapse Into Now is like reconnecting with an old friend. The familiar warble of lead singer Michael Stipe on the guitar-heavy opener Discoverer immediately transports you back to the late 80s/early 90s and opens the door to what is a classic R.E.M. rock record. In true Stipe-style there's plenty of heartbreak on songs like Oh My Heart and Blue. Listen out for guest vocals from Patti Smith, Eddie Vedder and Peaches.
