On his fourth album, the formerly shy beardy soul-folk guy LaMontagne steps out in front of a band for a set that starts out lively on the Joe Cocker-eseque Repo Man and ends on the upbeat swampy-blues of Devil's in the Jukebox. There's Nashville country too on New York City's Killing Me but still much trademark acoustic melancholy. Even with a sensitive singer-songwriter centre, it's less affecting than previous sets but Ray getting his mojo working is still something to hear.
