While it's easy to be sceptical about the side projects of well-established musicians, particularly when they consist of odd amalgams of collaborators, they can often emanate a certain charm.
Outside the stifling constrictions of their day job, those involved can be free to explore the corners of their creative psyches generally left to gather dust.
Pajama Club is just such an outing, with Neil Finn and wife Sharon at the helm, joined by Sean Donnelly and Alana Skyring.
There's a palpable sense of innocence and exploration at play here which, while it can be cloying at times, offers a refreshing perspective on what Finn and Donnelly can do with a tune when more than a little levity is involved.
And the female half of the endeavour are no bit players either. After all, the genesis of Pajama Club had the Finns jamming late in the evening in their nightwear.
