Rating: 3/5
Verdict: Nice enough but expectations higher
The idea of sweet soul and gospel powerhouse Mavis Staples doing an album produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy is a mouthwatering and ear-pleasing prospect.
But You Are Not Alone, which has a couple of Tweedy originals alongside versions of songs by everyone from Randy Newman to Mavis' dad "Pops", falls into the "nice enough" category rather then being monumentally moving.
